Concerns grow for missing Harborne man

Police are appealing for sightings of a Birmingham man missing from home since yesterday morning (Thursday 11 December).

Steven OvertonSteven Overton was last seen by his mother at 10am yesterday at their shared home on Grove Lane in Harborne. He was reported missing three hours later by his concerned mother.

An investigation was immediately launched and officers discovered that the last known sighting of the 55-year-old gardener was driving his distinctive brown Vauxhall Astra 51 plate on the M5 southbound near to junction 4a.

Other forces have been alerted to his disappearance and are on the lookout for his car.

Sergeant Neata Simpson, from Birmingham Police, said: “This is totally out of character for Steven to go missing like this.

“His mum is very worried as are we. We just want to know that he is safe and well.”

Steven who has recently lost his father, is described as white, around 6ft tall with thinning receding hair. At the time of his disappearance it is believed that he was wearing a two toned grey anorak and cream coloured trousers.

Steven or anyone who has seen him recently should call police on 101.
